Seminar Descriptions:
First up are Gillian Hyland and Jennifer Cooney with a presentation about Landscape Design. They’ll cover everything from patios to gardens to driveways and decks and the wise use of materials to maximize space and scale. Remember to bring photos if you have specific landscaping questions. Gillian and Jennifer recently partnered on the landscape design and construction for the Riverwalk in Almonte next to the Old Town Hall. Gillian is the owner of HCG Common Ground in Perth and is a Landscape Architect. Jennifer is the co-owner of Cooney Construction & Landscape Ltd. in Almonte. Saturday June 5th at 10am.
The following Sunday Richard Inchley is presenting a seminar about Water Garden Container Gardening. Perfect for those who are new to water gardening, a container offers a great way to get your feet wet (so to speak!). Richard is the owner of Richard Inchley Ponds and Aquaria in Kinburn and is a very popular guest speaker on the topic ‘aquatic’. Sunday June 13th at 1pm
Calling all garden art enthousiasts! Amanda Homeniuk will be leading a hands-on seminar about pressed flower art including picking the perfect blooms, pressing and finally arranging your creation into a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Bring a small picture frame to display your finished work. Amanda is a graduate of the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver BC and currently does design and display work for Brantim. Saturday June 19th 10am.
The final seminar in June is focused on maintaining your container garden through the summer. Led by Joanne Smith, this seminar will cover all aspects of container garden maintenance including pinching, pruning and fertilizing for maximum results. Replacing worn out plants will also be covered. Joanne is the co-owner of Brantim Country Garden Centre and the resident Queen of Containers. Saturday June 26th at 10am
Seminars are available for a moderate fee (but FREE for Brantim Rewards Card holders!), and everyone must register in advance by phone to book a seat. Seminar seating is limited, so we respectfully ask that if you cannot come to an appointment that you give three days notice. This allows us to offer the space to another person on a waitlist, and/or to adjust our staffing requirements.
